Memorial Day: Yorkshire Air Museum

The 3rd September saw the revival after a three year absence (due to the Covid pandemic and the death of Queen Elizabeth II) of the Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Air Forces Memorial Day.

The event was attended by Ann and Tony Metcalfe on behalf of the Group and John Sharp, our National President.  Our National Standard (carried by Mike Quicey) shared pride of place with the National Standard of the Royal British Legion in the drumhead service and sunset ceremony.

ROCA members also in attendance were Revd. David Simpson, Sue Richmond (in her capacity as a Vice-President of York RAFA) and Gordon Murden (carrying York RAFA Branch standard).  In the absence of our regular standard bearer (Tim Kitching, otherwise engaged on duties at the event) our Group Standard on this occasion was carried proudly by Ollie Mennell, a member of the Royal Air Force Cadets

Behind the scenes, Revd David Simpson was busy filming the event for posterity.
